We need your help as we embark on the next big step in our evolution — creating a database that will ensure our sustainability.
Moving all of that data to a custom database on an institutional platform will improve:
$15,000
- Security: The database will live behind a firewall controlled by access permissions, two-factor identification and workflows, protecting the data from viruses, software obsolescence and human error.
- Accuracy: Edits are made through a custom user interface and require review by a Flora author for approval.
- Currency: Data is edited, imported and added in real-time, then updated to the App on a regular schedule.
The Virginia Environmental Endowment (VEE) awarded the Flora of Virginia a grant to get this necessary transformation of data started.
We need to match the $15,000 award, and more, before June 30, 2025 to keep the project moving.
To date we have:
- Completed a Feasibility Study.
- Negotiated a contract with the Flora of the Southeastern United States (FSUS) to develop our database and host it on the Floraquest platform.
- Started the first phase of work — design the user interface for the Dichotomous Keys.
