The Flora of Virginia Ambassador Program trains experienced Flora App users to educate others on how to maximize use of the App. The program increases educational opportunities for new Flora App users in basic botany, habitats and ecosystems, increasing understanding of the critical importance of protecting and restoring Virginia’s open spaces.
Through partnerships with Virginia Master Naturalists, Virginia Native Plant Society, Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden, Blandy Experimental Farm and Meadowlark Botanical Gardens we identified potential Ambassadors who participated in tutorials, online classes and a field lab before executing their own program or volunteering on the Flora of Virginia’s behalf.
